Michael Hickey

President, Pitney Bowes Software

As President, Hickey brings more than 20 years technology and 13 years software experience to his role. Hickey was named President of Pitney Bowes Software on September 6, 2007. This single business unit combines Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software and Pitney Bowes MapInfo business units, acquired separately, into a single company. He served as MapInfo's chief operating officer from 2002-2007 and was named president of Pitney Bowes MapInfo soon after the acquisition in April 2007.

During his tenure at Pitney Bowes MapInfo Hickey has held a number of executive management positions. Previously, he served in the roles of executive vice president, sales and marketing, group vice president of operations, and vice president and general manager of MapInfo's Information Business. As Vice President & General Manager of that business he grew the business 175 percent over a 2½-year period. The creation of this strong information business has enabled MapInfo to excel in the growth of its solution offerings and has given MapInfo a competitive advantage in the market. Hickey also spearheaded MapInfo's drive into Predictive Analytics through the development and acquisition of new core competencies. In addition, Hickey led MapInfo's Operational Excellence initiative, introducing business management disciplines into the business and driving continuous improvement through its operations and the company's creation of the location intelligence category.

Prior to joining the company, Hickey worked at AlliedSignal for nine years in various management positions. He developed functional experience in sales, industry marketing, product management and business planning. As part of AlliedSignal's Total Quality Initiative (TQM), Hickey was selected for a leadership role and was certified as a Total Quality Master. Hickey became proficient at re-engineering business processes to be market and customer driven. These skills helped him turn around three struggling product lines in two separate AlliedSignal divisions.

Hickey is currently on the national Board of Directors for AeA and serves as Chairman for AeA's New York Council Executive Committee. Additionally, Hickey also serves on the Board of Associate Trustees of Siena College and the Board of the Albany Chamber of Commerce where he is currently chair elect. He is also on the board of Inmedius. He previously served on the board of the American Marketing Association, Editorial Board of Business Geographics and on the Board of IA Systems, Albany Chamber FamTask committee and was the Chair of the TechValley Portal Committee. Hickey holds an MBA from the State University of New York at Albany and BS in Marketing and Management from Siena College.

Jay Bourland

Vice President and General Manager, Customer Data Quality and Data Integration

Jay Bourland Portrait

Jay Bourland, vice president and general manager, Customer Data Quality and Data Integration is responsible for the product development, product management, marketing and strategic direction of the company’s customer data quality and data integration solutions. Prior to this, from 2002 to 2007, Bourland was in charge of technology for Group 1 Software's Business Geographics Division, where he worked to improve the product line and shape its future.

Before joining Group 1 Software, Bourland spent four years with Sagent Technology, where he gained a deep understanding of how customers use and interact with enterprise software as both a senior product manager and senior professional services engineer. His work included projects to open software products for use by developers and adding web services capabilities. Bourland also spent two years as a professional services engineer with qualitative marketing software.

A 20-year computer and technology industry veteran, Bourland holds a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Southern Methodist University. His past experience includes several years in academia at the University of Washington, Stanford University, and Colorado State University, and he has published 12 academic papers in the area of nonlinear oscillations and waves.

Michael Cooper

Vice President and General Manager, Mailing Efficiency

Michael Cooper Portrait

As vice president and general manager for mailing efficiency, Cooper drives innovation and execution of the company’s mailing efficiency solutions.

Cooper has a wealth of experience in both large and small software and technology companies including those in the document management, financial services, media, internet and energy sectors. He was the CEO of Agentsmith, a Baltimore-based business intelligence firm specializing in television advertising sales and prior to that he was the leader of CreditXpert, a web based consumer credit advisory service. Agentsmith twice won the MD Incubator of the Year Award and he has filed for several patents. During the mid 90’s, Cooper was president of Pitney Bowes Software where he was responsible for revamping and building mailing software, launching web based customer data quality services, managing software lines across multiple platforms and growing revenues. He has also worked for Saladin, Inc., Reuters in the U.S. and FRI, Inc. in Toronto Canada.

Daniel Gerron

Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions

Daniel Gerron Portrait

Dan Gerron has 17 years of business planning and financial analysis experience. Gerron has been with Pitney Bowes MapInfo for twelve years, providing financial analysis and operational oversight for its strategic planning, product management and mergers and acquisitions efforts. He has been instrumental in directing the company’s worldwide mergers and acquisitions activities. Gerron developed the corporate process for evaluating potential acquisition candidates and directs the company’s efforts in valuing opportunities and performing due diligence. Gerron has directed or supported twelve acquisitions that have added more than $90 million in revenue that has been accretive to earnings. Additionally, Gerron coordinated the process of auctioning and selling MapInfo to Pitney Bowes in 2007. Prior to joining the company, Gerron created strategic business plans and performed marketing and financial analyses at Trans World Entertainment Corporation and H.C. Hwang International, Inc., where he also organized the start-up of TEC Pacific Enterprises. Gerron holds a B.A. in Asian Studies and a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kurt Hasbrouck

Vice President and General Manager, Location Intelligence, Pitney Bowes MapInfo

Kurt Hasbrouck Portrait

As Vice President and General Manager for Location Intelligence, Hasbrouck brings 18 years of operations experience to his role. Hasbrouck played an integral role as Managing Director of Operations in the integration of strategic acquisitions into the company, a key component of the long-term growth strategy of the company. Hasbrouck focused on organizational effectiveness and efficiency improvements. He will lead a team responsible for integrating software, data and services to provide greater value from location-based information.

He served previously as the managing director of information technology and spearheaded Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for the global IT organization.

Prior to joining MapInfo, Hasbrouck was a programmer analyst with Fleet Services Corporation and General Electric. Hasbrouck holds a BS Management –Information Systems and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has been an active fundraiser and supporter of The Community Hospice, a local non-profit organization.

Reid Hislop

Vice President, Global Marketing

Reid Hislop Portrait

As Vice President of Global Marketing, Hislop brings 20 years of technology marketing experience and a long history of developing successful and innovative marketing programs to his role. He leads the company’s corporate marketing team and directs the company’s branding efforts, working directly with the Pitney Bowes Software executive team to grow and strengthen the company’s overall marketing strategy.

Prior to joining MapInfo, Hislop served as Vice President of Corporate Marketing at McData Corporation, where he spearheaded global public relations and marketing communications activities and increased market share with the launch of new global branding, market positioning and messaging. Prior to this, he served as Vice President of Marketing for eSoft, Inc., an internet security solutions provider. Hislop holds a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta (Canada).

Brian Lantz

Senior Vice President, Americas Sales, Pitney Bowes MapInfo

Brian Lantz Portrait

As Senior Vice President and General Manager, Americas, Lantz is responsible for managing all aspects of the Americas business, including sales as well as other operational duties. Lantz has responsibility for approximately 50 percent of the business within Pitney Bowes MapInfo. Lantz spearheaded the re-organization of the sales team to focus on Pitney Bowes MapInfo key vertical markets resulting in double-digit organic growth. Lantz began his career with MapInfo in 1996. He previously served as the Vice President of Global Business and Sales Development and Director of Public Sector Sales.

Prior to joining MapInfo, Lantz was a Bids and Contracts Manager at Borland (formerly Ashton-Tate). He was also a member of the United States Secret Service for four years where he was responsible for the protection of the President, Vice President and their families. Lantz holds a degree in criminal justice from Fairmont State University. He has served on the board of Baldwin Childcare Center and as a panel expert at numerous conferences focused on public safety and homeland security.

John O'Hara

Executive Vice President, International Operations, Pitney Bowes MapInfo

John O'Hara Portrait

As Executive Vice President, International Operations, O’Hara brings 28 years of experience in the high tech industry. In this role, O’Hara leads Pitney Bowes MapInfo expansion strategies in Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific, implementing the company’s global strategy focused on key vertical markets across these geographies to best serve its global customers.

O’Hara joined the organization in October of 2006 and most recently served as General Manager, Enterprise and Partner Group, for Microsoft UK responsible for more than $1 Billion in revenue, selling to Enterprise customers and managing a team of more than 400 people.

Prior to Microsoft, O’Hara worked at Pivotal Corporation, a leader in CRM for mid-market enterprises, where he held the role Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Operations. O’Hara also spent 11 years at Lotus Development Group and IBM serving in various roles, including General Manager, International Business Development Group, European Sales Director and Managing Director Lotus UK.

Ben Semmes

Senior Vice President, Operations, Pitney Bowes MapInfo

Ben Semmes brings twenty years of software industry experience to his role as Senior Vice President, Operations. In this capacity, Semmes leads Pitney Bowes Software’s global efforts to align all resources (people, process and systems) to most effectively drive the company’s global growth strategy. Semmes has established standard business practices and collaboration initiatives across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific regions, resulting in increased customer satisfaction, organizational efficiency and profitability. Semmes’ previous role at Pitney Bowes Software was Senior Vice President, Global Services, where he led predictive analytics, consulting, support, education and online-services worldwide.

Prior to joining MapInfo Corporation (now Pitney Bowes Software), Semmes was a Senior Director at Oracle for nine years with successes in leading the development of new organizations, models and strategies. While living in Bangalore, India, Semmes established Oracle Consulting, North America India Operations, an organization of more than 500 employees providing new capabilities and more competitive price points for blended services to commercial, government and higher education clients in North America, Europe and South Asia. During his tenure with Oracle, Semmes held line management positions leading Enterprise Resource Planning and Technology Consulting Practices as well as staff roles focusing on consulting operations.

Semmes holds a BS in Chemistry from Virginia Military Institute and a MS in Management from Steven’s Institute of Technology.

Alan Slater

Vice President and General Manager, Customer Communications Management

Alan Slater Portrait

Alan Slater is vice president and general manager of Customer Communications Management (CCM). He is responsible for the company’s suite of document composition and electronic document management solutions.

Slater joined Group 1 Software in 1982 and has more than 28 years of experience in the technology sector, including more than 17 years of general management experience in the development, distribution, and support of enterprise software systems for data quality, data integration, customer communications, and mailing efficiency. Prior to his current role, Slater also served as vice president of Sales and Marketing. Before coming to Group 1, Slater was area sales manager with EQUIFAX in the Washington, DC area.

Slater holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and has addressed audiences, including the Direct Marketing Association, the National Association of Major Mail Users, and various user conferences, concerning postal discounts and automation, database marketing, and relationship statementing.

Elizabeth Walter

Executive Vice President, Global Business Development

Elizabeth Walter Portrait

Elizabeth Walter is executive vice president, Global Business Development, leading the planning and execution of growth strategies.

Walter has been with Group 1 Software for 15 years. Before coming to Group 1, Walter held positions in sales and sales engineering in the enterprise software industry with companies such as Boole & Babbage (now BMC), Syncsort and IBM.

A graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Walter holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
