Horizons 2006: Outside Speakers Bring a Fresh Perspective

Meet Two of the Horizons 2006 Outside Speakers!
Dr. Gene Del Polito, the President of the Association for Postal Commerce (PostCom) in Washington, DC, is scheduled to sit on the Postal Panel, a Regulatory Information track session. In this session, subtitled "The R2006 Rate Case: What It Will Mean to You," you can hear from industry experts about how the recently-filed rate case will affect you, both in terms of regulatory changes and postage increases.

Mr. Del Polito is highly regarded within the postal community as an effective advocate on behalf of those who use mail for business communication and commerce. He serves on the Postmaster General's Mailers Technical Advisory Committee and has been a member of a number of Postal Service-industry work groups and task forces over the years. Mr. Del Polito also serves as a member of the Smithsonian National Postal Museum's Advisory Council. He is Vice Chairman of the International Mailers Advisory Group, represents PostCom at meetings of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), serves on the UPU's Direct Mail Advisory Board and is a member of the UPU's Steering Committee. He is a frequent speaker at postal gatherings and conferences around the nation.

Todd Schmitt will present at Managing Postal and Tax Geography Changes, a Business Geographics session that addresses the management of real-world changes in Postal Geography, Geocoding and Tax Solution data, along with the benefits this data provides across multiple divisions within your business. New subdivisions, constant road extensions, new tax jurisdictions and authorities and endless postal changes all require the continuous review and enhancement of geographic data.

Mr. Schmitt, a Segment Manager for Tele Atlas North America, has been with Tele Atlas since 1998. Over the past eight years he has performed a number of roles in project, product and marketing management, including bringing several new products to market. Throughout his career at Tele Atlas, Todd has worked closely with partners in a variety of industries, including tool and application provision, risk management, banking, demographics, utilities, state government and telcos. Todd holds a B.S. in Financial Management from Franklin Pierce College. His presentation will elaborate on how one of Group 1’s partners, Tele Atlas North America, manages the ongoing requirement for change and the benefits of geographic data currency.

The Group 1 Support Site Adds a Sagent Glossary

Expanding upon the existing Centrus Glossary, Group 1 recently added an extensive Sagent Glossary to the Support site. Even experienced Sagent users should find the Sagent Glossary to be an extremely valuable resource: it lists over 300 Sagent-related terms and definitions. To access the Glossaries page, log into the Group 1 Support site, http://www.g1.com/Support, and click Glossaries on the left sidebar. Once you have browsed to one of the glossaries, you can use your scrollbar to browse the alphabetized listing or link directly to a particular section using the initial links at the top of the page.
