Group 1 Software Announces 2008 Customer Conference
Group 1 Software, Inc. has announced its upcoming 2008 Customer Conference to be held May 21–23, 2008, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since the merger of Group 1 and MapInfo into a single software entity under Pitney Bowes, it has been decided to hold a corresponding Pitney Bowes Group 1 Customer Conference and MapWorld customer event. The educational tracks for MapWorld and the Group 1 Customer Conference will still operate separately, but will have common general sessions, meals, awards and social events, along with a common Technical Help Center area. While the two groups are sharing a space, the Group 1 Technical Help Center as always will be available staffed with qualified people ready to help solve any problems your company may be having. Please look for more information in upcoming NewsCasts about this exciting venture.
Group 1 Employee Spotlight
Reinhard Borchardt first learned the details of Group 1 Software, Inc. as a customer. The year was 1995, and Reinhard was in Kansas City, where he was working in the mailroom of a high-tech printer of scientific journals. He had been hired to help the company with its transition from a manual mailing system to an automated presort system with Group 1.
Under the company’s original system, employees were sorting mailing labels by hand. Reinhard worked closely with Group 1 Tech Support to set up a system that cut his company’s postage costs and freed up employee work time, previously consumed by manual mailing.
A year and a half later, Reinhard pursued a job opportunity with Group 1 in Lanham, Maryland, willing to move halfway across the country. He says that he has never regretted leaving Kansas City to work for Group 1.
Reinhard worked for eight years as a Group 1 Technical Support Representative (TSR) of presort products. In 2004, Reinhard moved from his TSR position to his current position as the Online Support Analyst with Group 1’s Customer Information Management team. In this position, he ensures that customers can access and benefit from all online support systems provided by Group 1. In collaboration with the Group 1 Web Team, he also takes a strategic view, keeping abreast of new and innovative ways to improve the online experience for customers.
"My current job is both challenging and full of surprises," Reinhard says. "From working on new and exciting projects to solving everyday problems, I am never bored."
Reinhard’s success in his current position recently earned him an Associates in Action award, an honor given to Group 1 employees who go beyond the requirements of their positions to add major value to the company and its customers.
When asked what he values most about working for Group 1, Reinhard mentions two key communities: employees and customers. “The fact that so many of our customers have been with us for so long makes me really proud to work here,” he says.
Another key benefit of working at Group 1 for Reinhard is that he met his wife and coworker, Anna Borchardt, in the Lanham office. In his spare time, Reinhard builds 1:35 scale models and works on upgrading his 1981 Porsche. Reinhard resides in Maryland with Anna and their two daughters.
