This is a story about a longtime Group 1 customer named Mark. Mark had a big problem because his data center moved to a different state. Now he has to forward his software and database tapes to the data center in this other state after receiving them from Group 1. This was adding a day or two to his install time. He considered the option of having his database shipment sent to the data center but then he would not know when the database got there or what happened to the supporting documentation.

Mark and Group 1's Product Distribution Services (PDS) got together and SUCCESS! We now offer CD's for the mainframe. This means you can have all your shipments sent to you rather than to your tape library. This eliminates the risk of losing all the supporting documentation. All you need to do is load the software and/or databases to your desktop and then FTP them to the mainframe. This process follows the same install process as our Internet install instructions.

Below is a list of the current mainframe software that is now available on CD-ROM:

  • Canadian CODE-1 Plus
  • CODE-1 Plus
  • CODE-1 Plus International
  • Geographic Coding Plus
  • GeoTAX
  • MailStream Plus
  • Manifest Reporting Plus
  • Palletization Plus
  • Parse Match Consolidate
  • SortStream Canada

If you would like to switch from tape to CD, please email PDS@G1.com with your name, Company name, and the products/databases you would like to receive on CD. Currently, all supported databases are also available on CD. You will only receive those products/databases for which your company is current on maintenance.
