Earlier this month, Group 1 Software announced that it has entered
into a strategic partnership with GrayHair Software, Inc. of Moorestown,
NJ. Under the agreement, Group 1's MailStream Plus software solution
will generate output files in support of GrayHair's Mail·Trak
PLANET Code technology. GrayHair Software is the mailing industry's
leading provider of PLANET Code processing and mail-tracking services.
PLANET Codes enable mailers to track their mail electronically
through the United States Postal Service (USPS) CONFIRM program.
Utilizing GrayHair's innovative technology, MailStream Plus users can track mail pieces more easily from postal acceptance through delivery. MailStream Plus is a comprehensive solution for mail preparation that presorts mail for the highest attainable postal discounts from the USPS.
“We're pleased to enter into this partnership with GrayHair Software,” said Tim King, Group 1 Software's vice president of postal affairs. “MailStream Plus customers now have access to a cost-effective, round-trip mail tracking program. This partnership underscores our commitment to continuing to offer our customers the industry's most comprehensive and flexible direct mail software solutions.”
“To be successful, a business must constantly focus on ways to improve its
present and future clients' experiences with its products and
services,” said Cameron Bellamy, president of GrayHair Software.
“The Group 1 Software-GrayHair Software partnership helps both
organizations attain that most strategic objective.”

In a February 13 notice from the USPS National Customer Support
Center to Postal Customers, information was provided concerning
the extension of CASS Cycle H to September 17, 2004. Normally,
the CASS cycle ends on July 31 and would require all mailers using
CASS software to be running newer software.
According the to notice, "MERLIN is now verifying nine-digit
ZIP Code information at the points of acceptance and has established
zero tolerance for ZIP + 4 codes of '0000' and '9999'. To maintain
consistency, CASS and MASS certification requirements will change,
effective immediately, in conjunction with the newly implemented
ZIP + 4 verification on mailings processed by MERLIN." The notice
goes on to say, "Due to this change in normal process, we are
extending the usage period of Cycle H and the Cycle I certification
period until September 17, 2004."
CODE-1 Plus, one of Group 1's certified products complies with regulations.
Software updates are expected later in the year to allow for the
extended CASS cycle. For more product information contact support@g1.com.
