It has been a busy year here at Group 1, and the 23rd Annual
Group 1 Users Conference will be one area where you will notice
many changes. This year's coaches (Darin Gillenwater and Kenn
Bryant) along with the Conference Committee "team" are hoping
to hit a homerun when you "Get in the Game" at Horizons 2004,
July 21-23, 2004. This year the 'arena' will be the Grand
Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, Georgia. Guest rooms will be offered
at a special rate of $139 for Group 1 customers through June 25,
2004. The rooms are sure to fill up quickly with returning fans,
so make your reservations early.
With the addition of Sagent and Centrus to the Group 1 Software
family, the line up will include more of the informative sessions
that the conference is known for. The 'Hands on Product Labs'
that were premiered last year were so popular that they've been
expanded to two tracks! Remember, advance registration for the
Hands on Products Labs is required. Note on your registration
form in the comment portion which labs you wish to attend.
The Early Bird Promotion, running through the end of March 2004,
gives you the opportunity to get your seats 'on the 50 yard line'
for $395- that's $200 off of the normal price! Remember: Horizons
2004 is the best place for Group 1 customers to network with other
users, to get first hand information about Group 1 products and
industry trends, as well as have the opportunity to provide invaluable
feedback to Group 1.
If you haven't registered
don't sit on the bench! 'GET IN THE GAME' with Group 1
Software!
The U.S. Postal Service has changed the rules for its next round
of Merlin implementation that takes effect Jan. 17. Merlin, or
Mail Evaluation Readability and Lookup Instrument, is used to
validate address accuracy for mailers receiving automation rates.
The USPS had said that it would allow a 1 percent tolerance for
multiple instances of identical ZIP+4 codes and other address
accuracy errors, but no tolerance for the incorrect use of ZIP+4
codes 0000 or 9999.
Last week, however, the agency changed the rule so that mailings with multiple instances of identical ZIP+4 codes or other errors will still receive automation rates. There will still be no tolerance if any piece has "0000" or an incorrectly assigned "9999."
Merlin will sample all mailings of letters or oversized envelopes that exceed 10,000 pieces and about one in six mailings of less than 10,000 pieces.
