LINUX
Effective January 1, 2004, Red Hat will be discontinuing maintenance
for the 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, and 8.0 versions of their Red Hat Linux product
offerings. In order to stay current with the direction of this operating
system vendor and to continue providing state-of-the-art software
for your Red Hat Linux platform, Group 1 Software has found it necessary
to increase the minimum supported level of Red Hat Linux for all
our products to Enterprise Linux version 2.1. All currently released
Group 1 products will run on Enterprise Linux version 2.1 after
upgrading your operating system. There is no need to reinstall your
products.
If you are currently operating on any version of Red Hat Linux
below Enterprise Linux 2.1, please make plans to transition to this
new version before January 1, 2004, in order to continue receiving
technical support from Group 1.
Mainframe - MVS
Group 1 Software has added support for the z/OS.e operating system.
If you are a current MVS customer and are considering implementing
z/OS.e in your production environment, your current Group 1 MVS
Language Environment compliant software can be run in batch mode
only on the z/OS.e operating system with a few modifications to
your production JCL. If you are currently running a Group 1 legacy
product written in assembler, this product will install and execute
under z/OS.e without modification.
For detailed instructions on JCL modifications as well as instructions on how
to implement G1LEINIT on your z/OS.e system, please review the additional information
included with the download. If you would like this download, please go to the
Group 1 Web site, http://www.g1.com, login to Support, Special Request Downloads,
and enter the Access Code: G1LEINIT. This download includes an assembler
application (G1LEINIT) that will execute Group 1 COBOL applications via the
Language Environment CEEPIPI pre-initialization interface in order to run your
Group 1 product(s) on the z/OS.e operating system.
