As the leading telecommunications services provider in Slovakia, Slovak Telecom operates a telecommunications network covering the entire country, and provides national and international telephone, data, and Internet services.

Following deregulation of the Slovak Republic’s telecommunications market, Slovak Telecom needed rapid transformation to gain a competitive edge.

The Challenge

Tight Implementation Timeframe

Slovak Telecom was implementing a new Siebel® CRM and Infinys Rating and Billing (IRB) solution for its entire customer base. The company needed a CCM solution that could be installed quickly, enabling it to make a rapid transition from a regulated market into a market-led environment.

Redesign Invoices While Controlling Costs

The company also needed a new invoice design to help mark a change in the company’s values, brand, perception, and approach to customers — all without exceeding current paper and mailing costs.

Compatibility with Existing Systems

Integration with the Infinys Rating and Billing (IRB) system and the company’s existing print shop hardware and processes was also required.

In addition, the invoices needed to be formatted so they could be easily ingested by the company’s pre-existing archiving system.

The Solution

Mission-Critical Documents in Just 14 Weeks

Group 1’s Professional Services expertise helped get Slovak Telecom’s CRM, billing, and DOC1 systems up and running in record time:

  • The first customers received live bills in just 14 weeks
  • The first live production bill run handled over 8 GB of bill data for over 1.1 million customers and was completed in 5.5 hours.

Cost-Effective Design Enhancements

The newly designed invoices have more attractive fonts and other graphic elements — without exceeding the sheet/envelope and mailing costs of the original invoices.

High-Performance Production

DOC1’s production engine produces PostScript™ for printing and PDF for archiving, and runs on the company’s HP UNIX® server.

Optimized Printing for Fulfillment

The DOC1 Post Composition Engine (PCE) optimizes print files for the company’s existing fulfillment process — which includes sophisticated print file manipulation and bill handling — so Slovak Telecom can minimize the number of oversized envelopes required, enable postal code mail sorting and more.

Partnership

Group 1’s DOC1® Customer Communication Management (CCM) solution was undertaken through a partnership with T-Mobile® in Germany.

The Benefit

More Control Over the Complete Document Lifecycle

Group 1’s DOC1 design/generate/print solution enabled the company to create and manage personalized customer communications for multi-channel delivery — helping Slovak Telecom manage the complete document life cycle.

Full Ownership

With successful guidance from Group 1, Slovak Telecom personnel have assumed responsibility for ongoing development and now maintain full control of their application.

More Sophisticated Invoice Structures

Now Slovak Telecom can produce standard “flat account” level invoices of multiple product hierarchies and utilize the “budget center” level of accounting available in Infinys Rating and Billing (IRB) system — enabling production of larger corporate accounts invoice structures
