TUI InfoTec GmbH is a joint venture between Sonata Software, the leading Indian IT consulting and software company, and TUI AG, Europe’s largest tourism company. At TUI InfoTec’s corporate headquarters in Hanover, Germany, 420 employees develop innovative IT solutions. These solutions are made available to customers through computer centers and networks. TUI InfoTec ensures the operation of 900 servers and data networks at 2,300 locations worldwide. Through a joint venture with Sonata, TUI InfoTec provides customer support via a network of more than 1,900 additional IT specialists in India.
The Challenge
Bring on the Color
TUI InfoTec was printing customer travel booklets in black and white. As an added value, and to boost brand recognition, they needed to provide customers with an updated color version containing personalized, as well as accurate and up–to–the–minute information outlining all travel details.

With the introduction of a new printing system, TUI InfoTec was looking to expand its capabilities. The company wanted to implement a color printing system that would provide a high performance and cost effective output management solution for its customers.
Looking for Features
TUI InfoTec was looking for a solution to generate the output data flow in variable postscript files, and the input data flow in XML. The system had to render the booklets as PDF files, while providing certain features including a high carrying capacity, various sorting options, a graphic user interface, spool selection, archiving for reproduction prints, color printing, single-sheet printing in DIN A3, analysis, and accounting.
