Stop, Report, Restart — Three Steps that Could Work to Your Advantage
While working through the CASS™ Cycle L software implementation, you may find it necessary and advantageous to test the DPV™ and LACS seed violation and recovery process. To prepare for the tests, clients can obtain the DPV and LACS public test records from their software vendor.
Testing Procedure
During the test, clients must stop, report, and restart (update the key/license) the process to restart the software.
- Stop =
- CASS software ceases to perform DPV and/or LACS when a false positive record (seed) is identified
- Report =
- Users must report the seed to the USPS® (this is automated by Group 1 via our web site and the attachment of the SEEDLOG)
- Restart =
- Users obtain a new license/key to restart the software
What Is the Stop Process?
The DPV and LACS stop process consists of the following series of six steps:
- Software detects SEED violation
- Software stops DPV or LACS coding
- Client obtains SEEDLOG
- Client goes to G1 web site to report to USPS
- Client attaches SEEDLOG and obtains restart key/license
- Client purges the input offending SEED record
This example is for standard users only. NCOALink® Full Service Providers and users with alternative stop processing approvals will only perform step #4 — reporting to the USPS.
Alternative Agreement
As an alternative to the stop process listed above, the USPS may enter into an additional Alternative False Positive Reporting and Stop Processing Function agreement. This agreement promotes more efficient processing for mailing activities that demonstrate a low risk of abuse. In these cases, the users are required to satisfactorily demonstrate to the USPS that their business, and their ability to prepare and enter mail, would suffer a severe negative impact via the Stop Processing function within the CASS Certified™ software.
