Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software

"recombination"

Recombination allows the software to modify the input house and unit number(s) so that the input address results in an exact high-rise match. An exact high-rise match is a match to a USPS high-rise record where the input house and unit number exactly match to the house and unit number in the USPS high-rise record.

There are specific ways software is allowed to “recombine” the input house and unit numbers to achieve a match:

  • The input house number is digits followed by a single trailing alpha
  • The input house number is digits followed by a hyphen and single trailing alpha
  • The input house number ends in a hyphen followed by one or more digits
  • The input house number ends in a hyphen followed by alphanumeric data
  • Combine two unit numbers into one unit number to make an exact match
