"Enterprise Information Integration (EII)"

EII is the process of integrating structured data from multiple data sources to present a single, real-time view of the business and customers. By presenting distributed data as if it exists in a single location, EII accelerates the development and maintenance of analytical and composite applications, improving corporate decision-making, customer service, compliance, or operating efficiency.

The key to EII when compared to other integration technologies is that data is not permanently replicated to a new location. The data is accessed in it’s native location and is only cached temporarily during analysis by the server.
