"Address Verification"
Address Verification is the process of checking an address to ensure that it is properly formatted and conforms to address structure standards. Address verification helps mailers save money by not sending out mail that could never reach the intended destination. The following actions are commonly performed on an address to verify it’s accuracy:
- correct spelling in street names
- standardize street name extensions (Ct, Court, CT.)
- validate and standardize street directionals
- append state, county and province abbreviations
