Pitney Bowes Partner Power Provides Fujitsu with Full ADF Solution
Download the full case study PDF or read the summary below:
The technology behind Fujitsu Services’ recent implementation of a full Automated Document Factory (ADF) solution is a successful collaboration of Pitney Bowes Document Factory Solutions (DFS), Group 1 Software and Emtex. As the name suggests, the ADF approach brings automation to every stage of the document production and dispatch cycle, affording Fujitsu production efficiencies more common to hi-tech manufacturing operations.
The Challenge
Large Volumes, One Solution
With production volumes across four managed sites approaching 500 million images annually, Fujitsu sought to implement a central document production solution for Central Government.
No Room for Error
The communications emanating from Central Government are of a financially sensitive nature. The processing of such documentation requires stringent integrity controls.
Total Flexibility
Fujitsu particularly specified an ADF solution capable of accepting any file format, providing total flexibility in the type of job it can accept and the source of the data that it receives.
The Solution
End–to–End Solution
For Pitney Bowes, implementation of this solution called upon corporate-wide expertise, particularly from partners Group 1 Software and Emtex. Previously, in implementations of this complexity, Pitney Bowes would have been the major player on the mail insertion side. Now, the company is able to offer an entire end–to–end solution.
Hardware and Software — A Package Deal
Pitney Bowes DFS, together with Group 1 and Emtex, is able to provide Fujitsu with everything it needs for a successful ADF solution implementation — from hardware to software.
The implementation at the Warrington site consisted of ten Pitney Bowes FlowMaster® FX10/FPS™ Flexible Productivity Series inserting systems, and Group 1’s DOC1 document composition program, e2 Vault™ archive and retrieval system, and a Data Flow™ server. The Pitney Bowes’ DFWorks™ solution was also implemented at Warrington for monitoring and ensuring that the technology on the floor delivered at optimum speed.
Further workflow management precision is provided by the Emtex Intelligence Suite (EIS), which operates across all four sites and integrates with existing printing systems to standardize and centralize print production and resource management. Fujitsu also uses Emtex software for its print–file–to–email conversion, which lets the Government Department take advantage of alternative delivery channels.
Absolute Accuracy
There is simply no room for error, and the Pitney Bowes ADF solution ensures total production accuracy.
The Benefit
Seamless Process
For Fujitsu, there are clear benefits in dealing with just one company. During implementation, there was a seamless hand-over between process steps, and decisions on tailoring hardware and software to meet site requirements could be made quickly. On an ongoing basis, Fujitsu is confident that Pitney Bowes service professionals are fully versed in every aspect of the ADF process.
Tailored Solution
The Pitney Bowes teams worked tirelessly with Fujitsu professionals to develop and implement a tailored hardware and software solution, combining automation, flexibility, accuracy, speed, and management — a partnership approach to business that left a lasting impression.
Successful Partnering
Anyone involved with the high volume mail market knows that it is never a one size fits all approach when it comes to technology solutions. The Fujitsu site implementations demonstrate Pitney Bowes’ belief in the partnership approach to business and the company’s willingness to go the extra mile. Success is a priority!
