DOC1 Designer Features and Benefits

Enterprise-wide Design and Content Authoring

DOC1 provides a dynamical editor that enables authors to design and generate a broad array of document types. Users can produce these documents via any of the output delivery channels. All users are managed as logged-in users of a common design repository, based on industry standard relational database technology.

Greater Flexibility

Content can be authored directly or imported from external sources such as third-party Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), graphic arts and word processing publications. A wide range of image and text formats are supported including RTF, EPS, JPEG, BMP, PSEGS, and many others.

Increased Productivity Through a Shared Repository

A centralized, managed shared repository allows for re-usability of content and business logic, and enables efficient collaborative development for all types of applications. Created once, each component can be used again in other documents, saving time and ensuring consistency across the organization.

Full history and version control of each individual component is maintained automatically within the system. Appropriate access rights and tailored functionality are easily managed by the team’s administrator. Further enhancing productivity, a wizard guides users to set up the physical environment, including printers and output streams, without requiring the laborious writing of scripts or environmental control files.

Unmatched Performance and Scalability

DOC1 composes documents either in real-time or in batch mode. Using the production wizard, a user can create a file that incorporates the document logic, required objects from the repository, data format definitions and resources for the selected output stream.

DOC1 can produce multiple outputs from a single pass of the data file. Documents can be output to all high volume production printers and digital presses or delivered electronically in formats such as PDF, email, HTML, and SMS.

Web-enabled Document Composition

DOC1 takes advantage of .NET capability to allow users to communicate remotely to the Design Repository through a secure channel for off-site staff or clients. Geographically distributed employees and business partners can interact with enterprise communications where and when it’s appropriate. This brings a new level of user connectivity to document composition, combining easy-to-manage software distribution with the full power, usability and productivity of DOC1’s authoring capabilities.

XML Connects Data and Documents

Extending connectivity even more, DOC1 takes advantage of the natural openness and hierarchical structure of an XML data file and incorporates it for use in the DOC1 Data Format Editor. The editor functionality allows data attributes to be assigned to XML tags for date formatting and numeric or decimal displays.

Global Communication

DOC1 has always been the worldwide leader in the creation and management of international customer communications, supporting dynamic multi-language composition, double-byte languages, and localized versions of its design software.

To further simplify and improve communication with businesses worldwide, the software now maintains and processes all data in a Unicode format. This enables users worldwide to benefit from this next-generation customer communication system. In addition to English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and German, the DOC1 Series 5 GUIs and help files are also available in Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
