The design of the new statement drove our new requirements for a document composition system. The new statement uses graphics as well as one-to-one marketing messages and we found that there were just a couple of companies who could deliver all our requirements and run in a high-volume production environment.

Merge/Purge Plus™ Features and Benefits
Sophisticated Name and Address Matching
Merge/Purchase Plus™ identifies and eliminates duplicate records using sophisticated matching algorithms that engage in complex consumer address issues, including options to:
- Run merge/purge operations on either a household or individual basis.
- Include apartment numbers as an extension of the street address so that records can be identified as duplicates only if the apartment numbers match.
- Choose how to treat resident or occupant records.
Flexible Matching Options
Merge/Purge Plus™ allows you to determine the most appropriate match level for each job using a proprietary selectable threshold for the matching algorithm. A wide variety of options gives you complete control over how the merge/purge matching algorithm works to specify the name-matching algorithm as loose, medium, tight, or equal for individual name matching.
Detailed Statistical Reporting
Merge/Purge Plus™ produces detailed reports, list comparisons and statistics that enable you to analyze and evaluate list-source and mailing efficiency. Users can define the level of detail needed for analysis. Merge/Purge Plus™ can count input records, edited rejects, multi-buyer outputs, single-buyer outputs, intra-file duplicates, suppression duplicates, total outputs, and percentages retained. Overall totals are categorized by list code or source ID, and by state. In addition, an analysis of each list shows input/output counts and the number and percentage of matches. Summary reports yield bottom line activity for each list.
Comprehensive Output Files
Merge/Purge Plus™ produces a full set of output files to help manage mailings, including:
- Clean File — Cleaned of duplicates and purges; this file is ready to use.
- Duplicate File — A complete listing of all duplicates identified.
- Extra File — Additional copy of the mailing file, if required, or a file containing selected single or the multi-buyer records.
U.S. and Canadian Address Parsing
Merge/Purge Plus™ provides you the ability to parse both U.S. and Canadian names and addresses. The program analyzes the ZIP/Postal code field to determine whether the address is in the U.S. or Canada and based on this determination, calls the correct parsing routine. Users can also set the program to a particular parser, whether U.S. or Canadian. The Canadian parser will correctly parse all Canadian name and address elements, including the province abbreviation for Quebec, PQ or QC.
