NeighborhoodTrac™ Features and Benefits

Improved Response to Megan’s Law

Since the 1996 passage of the federal Sex Offender Registration Act (Megan’s Law), states have developed ways for communities to protect themselves and their children. Many searchable databases, however, provide only broad results, making it difficult–if not impossible–for concerned citizens to ascertain the proximity of sex offenders in their community. The NeighborhoodTrac™ Family Protection System helps you overcome these limitations by adding the latest geocoding technology to your existing database systems.

NeighborhoodTrac Example ImplementationNeighborhoodTrac™ geocodes addresses to the applicable street, ZIP+4, ZIP+2, or ZIP code centroid level. Parents and concerned residents do not need to know adjacent ZIP codes, cities or county boundaries to determine if a registered sex offender lives in their neighborhoods. Instead, citizens use the interactive address lookup to generate a list of registered sex offenders based on a specified distance from the address. This advanced analysis helps citizens be more aware of sexual predators nearby and more attuned to child and community safety.

Automated Notification Alerts

NeighborhoodTrac™ supports community notification programs. Residents can sign up to be notified via email or postal mail if a registered sex offender moves into the neighborhood or specific vicinity.

Enhanced Verification and Data Quality

States can use NeighborhoodTrac™ to verify that information collected in their sex offender registration system is up-to-date and accurate. With real-time address verification, states can more accurately confirm that a convicted sex offender has registered properly by verifying that a real street name and address range has been used.

Flexible Search Options

NeighborhoodTrac™ utilizes geocoding and analysis to locate and map registered sex offenders in relation to citizen queries. Search results from our “search by address” can be generated with distance, direction, mapping links, and complete sex offender information–all sortable by both distance and name. Records in the reports can also be linked to additional information about the sex offender collected by the state.

Integrates with Existing Databases and Registries

NeighborhoodTrac™ enhances a state’s existing sexual predator database by adding a “search by address” feature. It does not replace the current system, and the new technology can be quickly and easily integrated. You can even extend the capabilities of NeighborhoodTrac™ by generate a link from listed sexual predators to an interactive map supplied by one of Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software’s mapping partners. In all, NeighborhoodTrac™ provides states with more options to serve their citizens.
