Centrus Points
By precisely defining the location of an address with latitude and longitude coordinates, the Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software Centrus geocoding solutions provide businesses with a powerful way to geographically analyze customer and site data.
By returning the latitude and longitude coordinates of the parcel centroid for the address, Group 1’s Centrus Points sets the standard for accuracy even higher.
A Complete Geographic Enrichment Solution
Centrus Points, designed to provide solutions to businesses at all levels, are available in four variations:
- Centrus Points — parcel centroid geocoding across the US
- Centrus Points Elevation — parcel centroid geocoding across the US with the additional elevation attribute to meet the needs of businesses involved in elevation modeling and risk analysis.
- Centrus Enhanced Points — parcel centroid geocoding across the US with the additional Assessor Parcel Number (APN) attribute to meet the needs of businesses involved in parcel identification
- Centrus Premium Points — parcel centroid geocoding across the US with the additional APN and elevation attributes to meet the needs of businesses involved in parcel identification, elevation modeling, and risk analysis
Group 1 offers Points products for most counties across the US, covering a majority of the U.S. population. Parcel data has been assembled from county and local government sources or digitized by experts in county parcel data. Point data is updated monthly with recent county acquisitions and enriched with US Postal Service (USPS) address and ZIP+4® data.
Centrus Points are available for the following Centrus products: GeoStan, AddressBroker™, GeoTAX® Matrix, Centrus Desktop™, Address Cleanser and Coder Transform, and the Geocoder for ArcGIS® plug-in.
Cascading Geocoding Logic
Centrus geocoding products use Centrus Points in combination with street level data, and cascade to the most accurate possible match. Using proprietary matching algorithms, addresses are compared to both points and street-segment data to ensure accurate matches, and to eliminate incorrect or false positive matches.
The Centrus Points product fully supports the CASS Certification standard, continuing the high standard of quality that has allowed Centrus products to be the preferred geocoding solution for over a decade.
While street-level geocoding must estimate, or interpolate, the location of an address along a street segment, Centrus Points locates the address precisely within the parcel. In fact, even using the best available digital street data, about 50% of interpolated geocodes are at least 120 feet away from the actual physical location of the address.

Insurance — Flood Zone Determination
These highly detailed areas of geography are very sensitive to even small changes in accuracy. By having the best information about exactly where a property is located, insurance risk is reduced. An analysis of the state of Florida shows that 24% of flood zone values changed as a result of converting to points geocodes from address-level geocodes. The elevation attribute in Centrus Points and Centrus Premium Points further identify those properties that are at risk from flood damage.
Insurance — Distance to Coast
Centrus Points geocoding provide precise information about distance to coast, which is critical in making quick and accurate underwriting decisions for hurricane and tropical storm risk.
Insurance & Mortgage Banking
By using Centrus Enhanced Points, the APN can be used to link data that includes detailed property and housing information, including: ownership, bedrooms/bathrooms, square footage, roof type/roof cover, number of buildings, and much more. This information can be used to automatically fill application forms for insurance straight-through processing and automation valuation applications.
Tax Districts
Tax districts are very detailed, and frequently parcel specific. Centrus Points geocodes reduce compliance costs and risks by ensuring superior levels of accuracy for property tax, sales tax, and special tax districts.
Online Mapping Using Aerial Imagery
Centrus Points put the geocode on the parcel associated with the users address, and in many cases, right on top of the house.
