Alan Slater Elected to Group 1 Software´s Board of Directors
and Promoted to President - DOC1 Division

Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) announced today that Alan P. Slater has been elected to the company's board of directors and promoted to president of its DOC1 Division. Mr. Slater, a twenty-year employee of Group 1 Software, previously was executive vice president and general manager of the division. The DOC1 division is responsible for the development, sales, marketing, and support of the company's customer relationship communications solutions.

Since joining the company, Mr. Slater has served in a number of operational management and sales management positions. Since 1995 he has led the DOC1 Division, Group 1's fastest growing division. Mr. Slater will fill the remainder of Ron Friedman's term, which expires in 2002.

Mr. Friedman has resigned his position on the board and will be retiring later in the fiscal year.
