Pitney Bowes' Group 1 Software Introduces Data Products for Enhanced Geocoding and Spatial Analysis

Centrus Points and Parcels Provide Superior Parcel-Level Geocoding Accuracy, Spatial Analysis and Display Capabilities for Improved Decision-Making

LANHAM, MD (January 7, 2008) — Group 1 Software, Inc., a Pitney Bowes Company (NYSE: PBI), today introduces Centrus Points and Parcels data solutions for U.S. properties. Utilizing these advanced data products, businesses in a wide range of industries including financial services, insurance, real estate, telecommunications and utilities are better able to locate properties, assess risk, determine eligibility for services and manage assets.

Centrus Points is the industry’s most powerful geocoding solution to combine parcel centroid-level geocoding precision with Assessor Parcel Number and elevation attributes specifically designed to meet property information and risk analysis needs. Centrus Parcels identify the property boundaries for each parcel, removing ambiguity related to the location and extent of the actual property. By attributing both products with address, location, APN and elevation information, this solution provides a coordinated data set to meet the needs of all Location Intelligence applications.

“It is clear that the trend towards parcel-level geocoding and the use of parcel boundaries for both analysis and display is going to accelerate. Many companies need the precise geographic accuracy that parcel-level data provides,” said David Sonnen, IDC’s senior consultant for Spatial Information Management. “For example, property and casualty insurance companies need to precisely determine how far a house is from the coast, or if it is located inside or near an area prone to brush fires, without the delay and expense of an onsite inspection. Businesses like these require the highest accuracy level available. Centrus Points and Parcels is a significant step towards both national parcel coverage and the highest levels of accuracy for the U.S.”

“The level of precision and detail incorporated into Centrus Points and Parcels provides the critical information required for location-dependant businesses where the difference of a few feet can significantly impact business decisions,” said Kurt Hasbrouck, vice president and general manager, Location Intelligence, Pitney Bowes Software. “Centrus solutions have long set the standard for accuracy, flexibility and speed, and the addition of Centrus Points and Parcels emphasize our continuing commitment to meet the most demanding requirements of mission-critical business applications.”
