Group 1 Releases DOC1 Query - Newest Module in the
DOC1 Series 5 Customer Communications Management Solution

Technology Helps Users to Make Informed Business Decisions

Atlanta, GA-- At the Xplor 2003 Conference and Exhibit, Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced the release of DOC1 Query, the newest module in DOC1 Series 5, its customer communications management system. DOC1 Series 5 is composed of modules to manage every aspect of a company's critical business documents, from data acquisition and content creation through multi-channel delivery and web-based customer care. DOC1 Query is one of the electronic document management modules of DOC1 Series 5. Along with the other modules in DOC1 Series 5, DOC1 Query can be previewed at Group 1's booth (#701) at Xplor, October 27-29 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Group 1's DOC1 Query is a powerful data-mining tool that enables users to query and extract data from dynamic print stream output (AFP, Metacode and line data) without programming or IT involvement. Query results can be displayed in XML or CSV (Comma Separated Value) format for importing into spreadsheets, databases and other applications for further analysis while eliminating re-keying of information.

Frequently, summary data and other information are available only from documents - whether in paper or electronic form. The challenge for business users has been to locate and extract data from dynamic documents, such as account statements and utility bills, where information is not on a fixed position on every page. The unique pattern recognition and parsing technology of DOC1 Query locates and extracts information from documents with varying formats and business rules. DOC1 Query provides secure, controlled access to reports across the Web to provide real-time financial, sales, back office and marketing intelligence anytime, anywhere, helping businesses make more informed decisions. DOC1 Query also supports direct communication with the high-performance repository of DOC1 Archive, a module that provides high-speed search, retrieval and delivery of both Web and printed documents. With DOC1 Archive's superior compression technology, businesses can store up to seven years of a company's critical business documents on-line. Using the powerful combination of DOC1 Archive and DOC1 Query to access historical information, companies can do year-over-year comparisons and trend analysis for enhanced business intelligence.

DOC1 Query is composed of three core components: Query Designer, Query Client and Query Web. Query Designer enables power users to create new reports and queries. The tool provides the ability to model a document in order to create templates or pre-defined queries for access by business users. Query Client and Query Web provide business users, such as accountants, business analysts, and sales and marketing personnel, with access to pre-defined reports and queries through the Web or a desktop interface. Users can easily filter their results, extract information from reports, and load data into databases, spreadsheets or third-party applications for further analysis.

“DOC1 Query enables business users to harness the power of a wealth of legacy information that was historically 'off-limits” when making business decisions,” said Alan Slater, president of Group 1's DOC1 Division. “This information can be utilized in a wide variety of applications, including developing personalized, highly targeted communications with DOC1's composition technology.”
