Fingerhut Direct Selects Group 1
To Enhance Customer Data Quality

Group 1's Solutions to Provide Fingerhut Accurate Single Customer View by Validating And Consolidating Customer Information

Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced that catalog industry pioneer Fingerhut Direct has selected Group 1's data quality solutions to refresh and consolidate its customer data. Fingerhut, headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota, is a direct-to-consumer marketing company selling a broad selection of general merchandise via catalogs and the Internet. “Our customer database, which contains several million records, is Fingerhut's most valuable strategic corporate resource,” said Fin Sondergaard, marketing manager at Fingerhut. “We are currently integrating data from a wide variety of sources to develop a single view of each customer. This would be very difficult to accomplish without data quality software capable of providing us with accurate, consolidated customer information. Group 1's industry-leading technology gives us a foundation of actionable information that will be of tremendous importance as we grow the company.”

Fingerhut is utilizing Group 1's CODE-1 Plus to validate, correct and standardize customer address data. CODE-1 Plus provides accurate, on time delivery of correspondence and eliminates the operational costs associated with misdeliveries. Fingerhut has also licensed Delivery Point Validation (DPVTM)*, a CODE-1 Plus component that validates the accuracy of address data to the physical delivery point. This functionality enables users to determine whether an actual address exists, down to the apartment or suite number. Additionally, Fingerhut is using Group 1's Merge/Purge Plus to identify and eliminate duplicate customer records across multiple files.

“Leading organizations such as Fingerhut are increasingly utilizing data quality software to maximize the return from customer information resources,” said Bob Bowen, CEO of Group 1 Software. “By providing insight into its current and prospective customers, Group 1's technology will help Fingerhut develop more targeted marketing initiatives that can lead to lasting customer relationships.”
