Modesto Irrigation District Selects Group 1's DOC1 Suite
To Generate and Archive Customer Communications
California Utility Turns to DOC1 To Design, Generate, Print and Store Its Bills
Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced that the Modesto Irrigation District (MID) has selected Group 1's DOC1 suite to enhance the design of its utility bills and store them electronically. MID is a multipurpose public utility, providing electricity, irrigation and domestic water services to citizens in California's Central Valley. The DOC1 suite gives businesses complete control of the document lifecycle, from content design, generation, and presentment to archiving, retrieval and electronic payment.
“A primary reason for selecting Group 1's DOC1 suite was its promise of seamless integration with the Lodestar billing system," said Cindy Minter, assistant general manager of information technology at Modesto Irrigation District. “The Modesto Irrigation District will have the ability to design, generate and output bills that are more informative and easier-to-read. Additionally, with DOC1's archiving capabilities, the Modesto Irrigation District hopes to improve customer service with faster storage and retrieval of bills.”
“We look forward to working with the Modesto Irrigation District in supporting its document management needs,” said Alan Slater, president of Group 1's DOC1 Division. “The fact that MID licensed our solutions for both front-end design and back-end storage demonstrates the value of our unique position as the sole provider of end-to-end customer communications management technologies.”
In addition to DOC1's core document generation functionality, MID has licensed DOC1 Archive, an integrated document repository that will enable the utility to index, store and compress its customer bills. MID will also have the ability to deliver exact replicas of each bill to its customer service representatives (CSRs) in real-time. With the DOC1 technology, the utility's CSRs will be able to respond to inquiries in an expedited manner, thereby reducing call wait times and cost per call while improving customer service.
MID anticipates that its CSRs will view the DOC1-generated bills from within a Siebel interface. Group 1's technology was part of a total customer care solution sold to MID by software integrator Wipro Technologies. DOC1 was sold in conjunction with Siebel Systems' eBusiness technology and Lodestar Corporation's billing engine.
