American National Insurance Company Selects Group 1
For Enhanced Data Quality Regarding Policyholders
Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced that American National Insurance Company has selected Group 1's data quality solutions to enhance the accuracy of its policyholder information. American National will utilize Group 1's software in-house to verify policyholder address information, track address changes, and merge duplicate records. Headquartered in Galveston, Texas, American National offers a broad line of insurance coverage to more than 3.3 million policyowners in the United States and its territories, Western Europe and Mexico.
“Under the nonpublic personal information provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, we are required to communicate in writing with our policyholders on a regular basis, ” said Albert Amato, senior vice president of life insurance operations at American National. “The passage of this act placed increased importance on the integrity of our policyowner data. We selected Group 1's data quality solutions to improve the accuracy of our customer data based on a strong endorsement from one of our subsidiaries currently using Group 1's solutions.”
American National has licensed a number of Group 1's solutions to improve the quality of its policyholder data. Group 1's CODE-1 Plus validates, corrects, and standardizes customer address data. With over 1,500 organizations using CODE-1 Plus, this leading technology provides accurate, on time delivery of correspondence and eliminates the operational costs associated with misdeliveries. Group 1's MOVEforward system tracks the over 40 million Americans who move each year by updating customer address changes through the United States Postal Service's Change of Address system. Consequently, businesses can reduce undeliverable mail, maximize postal discounts and help to maintain customer relationships.
To improve data quality, American National is also implementing Merge/Purge Plus, which identifies and eliminates duplicate name and address records. By consolidating customer records, users can reduce operational costs. Finally, List Conversion Plus will be used to convert data files into a user-defined format, enabling American National to improve the consolidation process through enhanced parsing and matching.
