Group 1 Software Announces Support for Universal Application Network at Siebel Worldwide User Week

Integrated Solution Extends Powerful Data Quality Technology to Enterprise-wide Applications To Maximize Value of Corporate Data

LOS ANGELES, Calif. October 23, 2002 — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF) today announced its support for Universal Application Network. Launched by Siebel Systems in conjunction with industry-leading application software vendors, integration server vendors, and systems integrators, the Universal Application Network is the industry's first standards-based, vendor-independent application integration solution. Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEBL) is a leading provider of multichannel eBusiness applications software.

As part of this endorsement, Group 1 plans to provide out-of-the-box connectivity between its Data Quality Connector for Siebel and the Universal Application Network. The integrated solution will enable customers to utilize Group 1's robust global address verification and data consolidation technology across enterprise applications. Businesses can thereby accelerate return on investment by developing an accurate, single customer view and dramatically reduce operational costs associated with inaccurate, redundant data. Group 1 demonstrated its integrated solution running on TIBCO in the Partner Pavilion at Siebel Worldwide User Week 2002. The company anticipates submitting the solution to the Siebel Validation Program within 90 days of Siebel Worldwide User Week 2002.

Universal Application Network takes a standards-based, vendor-independent approach to the design and development of end-to-end best-practice business processes that are executed by market-leading integration servers. Based on XML and Web Services industry standards, Universal Application Network enables organizations to effectively integrate best-in-class applications, such as Group 1 Software's Data Quality Connector for Siebel, and ensures that organizations are not locked into vendor-specific proprietary architectures.

Leveraging Universal Application Network as a common integration platform, Group 1 Software and Siebel Systems will deliver an enhanced integrated solution that combines best practices drawn from both Siebel Systems' business process library and Group 1's approach to data quality issues and best practices. Joint Siebel - Group 1 customers will be able to improve the quality of interactions between their Siebel environment and other enterprise applications.

The offering will provide businesses with an integrated solution that enables organizations to increase customer loyalty and retention, enhance target marketing effectiveness and strengthen the bottom line by providing enterprise-wide data quality.

“We are very excited to be working with Siebel Systems on the Universal Application Network initiative,” said Bob Bowen, CEO of Group 1 Software. “With the Universal Application Network, we have increased our ability to integrate Group 1's leading data quality technology with other applications across the enterprise.”

“The ability to ensure the accuracy of corporate data throughout the enterprise using a vendor-independent approach will be of great value for today's businesses,” said Michael Straub, Alliance Technical Director for Siebel Systems. “Group 1's support for Universal Application Network helps businesses considerably reduce the financial impact associated with integrating Siebel Systems' eBusiness technology and Group 1's data quality technology with other vendor applications.”
