Group 1 Software Enhances CODE-1 Plus,
Industry's Leading Address Data Quality Solution

CODE-1 Plus Now Offers Revolutionary Delivery Point Validation (DPV) Technology, Enabling Users to Ensure Deliverability

Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF), a leading provider of customer relationship management (CRM)-enabling software solutions, today announced the release of the latest version of its CODE-1 Plus address data quality solution. A comprehensive software solution that validates, corrects and formats address data, CODE-1 Plus increases direct marketing effectiveness and customer satisfaction by helping provide on-time delivery of mailings, goods and services. The latest version of CODE-1 Plus has been Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS)-certified by the United States Postal Service (USPS) for the CASS 2002-2003 address quality initiative, effective August 1, 2002.

The addition of the USPS's Delivery Point Validation (DPV) technology as an optional component of CODE-1 Plus enables mailers to verify that an actual address exists, down to the apartment or suite number. The DPV data set is updated monthly and consists of the nearly 150 million addresses delivered to by the USPS. The technology will reduce undeliverable-as-addressed mail resulting from inaccurate addresses, offering marketers and mailers significant savings in production, postage and labor costs. DPV will also enable businesses that rely on accurate addresses, particularly those in insurance and financial services, to avoid liabilities or lost opportunities associated with what can be sizable transactions. All of Group 1's nearly 2,000 current CODE-1 Plus users are being offered a free 45-day trial of the groundbreaking DPV technology.

CODE-1 Plus now supports Early Warning System (EWS), another new USPS product. Updated weekly via the Internet, the EWS file includes addresses that will be added to the USPS ZIP+4 Code master file in the coming months, such as housing developments under construction. With new homeowners the best prospects for many direct marketers, EWS ensures that addresses not on the USPS master files are not eliminated or coded inaccurately. Additionally, CODE-1 Plus supports the USPS's new Enhanced Line of Travel (eLOT) product by adding line of travel codes to mailings prior to presortation.

“Our latest release of CODE-1 Plus incorporates a number of valuable new features that can increase the effectiveness of target marketing initiatives,” said Bob Bowen, CEO of Group 1 Software. “We want our direct marketing customers to be able to take the fullest possible advantage of the new and innovative programs offered by the USPS.”
