Group 1 Software Adds Revolutionary
Delivery Point Validation (DPV) Technology,
Enabling Marketers to Ensure Deliverability

New Technology Enables Users To Verify That Addresses Are Served by the United States Postal Service (USPS)

Lanham, MD — Group 1 Software (Nasdaq: GSOF), a leading provider of customer relationship management (CRM)-enabling software solutions, today announced the early release of its Delivery Point Validation (DPV) technology. DPV will be licensed as an optional component of Group 1's industry-leading CODE-1 Plus address validation, correction and matching software solution.

Prior to the availability of DPV, CODE-1 Plus and other USPS Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS)-certified solutions could only indicate whether an address existed within a range of addresses on a particular street. The new technology enables users to verify that an actual address exists, down to the apartment or suite number. The DPV data set is updated monthly and consists of the nearly 150 million addresses delivered to by the USPS. The new technology will reduce undeliverable-as-addressed mail resulting from inaccurate addresses, offering marketers and mailers significant savings in production, postage and labor costs.

“DPV offers such compelling benefits to our nearly 2,000 CODE-1 Plus users that we are offering them a free 45-day trial of this groundbreaking technology,” said Bob Bowen, CEO of Group 1 Software. “In any direct marketing campaign or business mailing, a substantial number of mailpieces are returned due to bad address data. By incorporating DPV, returned mailpieces can be virtually eliminated, providing significant cost savings and dramatically increasing operational efficiency. Additionally, DPV will enable mailers that depend on accurate addresses, such as those in insurance and financial services, to avoid liabilities or lost opportunities associated with what can be sizable transactions.”

DPV will be incorporated in CODE-1 Plus 2.5, to be released in early June. To learn more about DPV and Group 1's direct marketing applications, visit the company's booth (#213), at MAILCOM 2002, May 20-22 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
